Welcome to my world of miniature quilts! I have a variety of traditional and original designs available. These miniature creations are mostly machine pieced and all are extensively hand quilted. My goal is to create quilts that represent their larger cousins as much as possible.
Fabric is not available in 1/12th scale proportions, so it's impossible to get a truly 1/12th scale quilt. I use Nelona Batiste and Cotton Lawn for the majority of my quilts since these fabrics are thin and drape beautifully. I usually add a thin silk batting to create a bit of loft to my quilting. I have a lot of fun dyeing the fabrics to create the variety of colors needed. The resulting quilts look very realistic. This spring I was honored by being accepted as an Artisan member of the IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans).
To see the newest quilts please join me at the 2010 IGMA Guild Show in Teaneck, New Jeersey, September 25-26. The next exciting show is the Philadephia Miniaturia Show November 6-7, 2010. Check out www.igma.org and www.philadelphiaminiaturia.com for more details. These shows contain some of the most talented miniature artisans, their skills amaze me more and more each year!
My quilts have found homes in private collections and in museums. The Kentucky Gateway Museum Center in Maysville, Kentucky and the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City, Missouri house several of my quilts. Be sure to visit them and discover the many treasures they house. See www.kygmc.org and www.umkc.edu/tmm for more details.
