This rail quilt was inspired by the "comforts" or "haps" of years gone by.  They would create layered blankets out of wool and old clothing and stuff them with old blankets, pieces of wool and even old socks!  As functional tools meant to keep them warm, the creators did not expend a lot of energy in precise piecing or fine quilting.  For once my quilting represents something close to 1/12 scale!  This quilt was donated to the IGMA auction at the 2005 Philadelphia Miniatura Show.
